Thai Mango Sticky Rice with just 6 ingredients!
Thai mango sticky rice is a classic Thai dessert called Khao Niew Mamuang (ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง).
It’s made with three simple components:
Glutinous (sticky) rice – steamed until soft and chewy
Sweetened coconut milk sauce – poured over the warm rice so it absorbs the creamy, lightly salty sweetness
Fresh ripe mango slices – naturally sweet and juicy
The combination of warm, coconut-infused sticky rice with cool, fragrant mango creates a perfect balance of sweet, creamy, and slightly salty flavours. It’s especially popular during mango season and is commonly sold by street vendors and dessert shops across Thailand.
Traditionally, it’s steamed rather than boiled, and sometimes served with an extra drizzle of thick coconut cream and a sprinkle of toasted mung beans for texture.
It’s simple, comforting, and one of the most iconic Thai desserts.
